The start of cultural and artistic activities in “Ikarbus” dates back to
1946 when drama section and a choir were founded. The good work of drama
amateurs was rewarded in 1951 with the establishment of an amateur
comedy theater “Branislav Nusic”.
Cultural and artistic society (KUD) “Ikarbus” was established on 13
April 1976. The idea was to enable the workers to express themselves in
an artistic and creative way in their free time, while affirming
authentic cultural values and tradition.
So far, 3,000 workers, students and pupils participated in the work of
the KUD. According to the results achieved in the field of art and
social affirmation, KUD “Ikarbus” ranks among the best workers’ cultural
and artistic societies of Serbia, with many recognitions and awards.
KUD “Ikarbus” has regular performances in Serbia and abroad representing
the beauty of the national folk dance at international festivals. They
have toured in Bulgaria, Poland, Italy, France and other European
countries. In 2000, they were awarded the first prize at the
International Festival of Folk Dance in Agrigento (Italy).
Currently, KUD has 400 members in five groups (three for pupils, one for
youths and one for performers) and they have a singers’ group and a folk
orchestra. |
